What is congestion pricing?

Manhattan has some of the worst traffic in the country.

Congestion pricing will mitigate that by taxing vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th street. It will discourage unnecessary car trips, reducing the traffic by 17%.

Why is it needed?

With less traffic comes faster emergency responses, safer streets, and less emissions.

It also provides funding for numerous monumental projects that will modernize our public transit system.

Transit scales

Manhattan is the most transit-saturated area in North America. 82% of trips here are made on transit.

Congestion pricing encourages using public transit while also funding its improvements.

Public transit in Manhattan moves more people than cars, uses less energy than cars, and is faster than cars.
